Profile Information
Bantry Tidy Towns has been in existence for more than 30 years. Like all Tidy Towns we were formed as a result of the nationwide Tidy Towns competition, itself in existence since the 1950s, originally organised by Bord Fáilte, then the Irish Tourist Board, and now by the Department of Rural and Community Development.
We are a Bantry-based, grassroots organisation, run entirely by volunteers, managed by a committee, and supported by a network of local and national organisations.
We have Tidy Meets weekly for most of the year, taking a much-needed break in the winter months. Local volunteers and businesses often do their own Tidy Meets throughout the year. And we take part in national initiatives as and when.
A dedicated Beach Clean group meets regularly and does what it says on the box. And a dedicated Painting group, repaints and cleans over graffiti and run-down buildings in the area.
And there’s so much more … come along and find out!
